Welcome to the Winter 2016 Issue!

I felt honored when The Pearl’s art director, Jessica Huang, asked if my Italian greyhound Caesar would model the very cozy winter coat from LexiDog in our annual gift guide. It’s our most extensive guide yet, featuring items from more than two dozen retailers. We’ve included treasures of all sizes, styles, and prices, from edible treats and colorful curios to fashionable threads and sturdy outdoor gear.

Caesar has discerning taste when it comes to his coats wardrobe—he’s well prepared for another brisk winter in the Pearl. Bundle up and join us in ringing in the holiday season at our tree lighting in Jamison Square Park on Saturday afternoon, November 26, at 4:30. Celebrate the season with community caroling, and snap pictures of friends and family in front of the tree.

The 26th also happens to be Small Business Saturday. What better way to support local Pearl shops than paying a visit to some of the distinctive and distinguished boutiques and emporia in our holiday guide?

Looking to break up your shopping with a cup of cocoa, a velvety stout, or a festive Irish coffee at some warm and inviting café or bar in the neighborhood? We’ve got you covered; see our story about the top spots in the Pearl for sipping and nibbling on a chilly afternoon.
