A patient walking into the Portland Dermatology Clinic (1414 NW Northrup St, Ste 600, 503-223-3104, portlanddermclinic.com) can expect a bit more.
“The doctors and staff here all have similar philosophies of putting patients first and treating patients like we’d want to be treated,” says Dr. Sam Hopkins, dermatologist at Portland Dermatology Clinic and assistant professor of dermatology at OHSU. “We all feel comfortable having our own families treated by our colleagues, which says a lot.”

At every Portland Dermatology Clinic appointment, patients meet with a medical dermatologist. For convenience, there’s both a treatment center and pathology processing center on-site. Plus, with six dermatologists and one dermatologic surgeon, patients can get an appointment within a couple of weeks, or same- to next-day appointments if it’s urgent. In dermatologist terms, that’s lightning fast.
This 57-year-old dermatology practice, which moved to the Pearl in 2010, has a strong reputation in the community and is the largest independently operating dermatology clinic in the Greater Portland Area. –Ellee Thalheimer
