We can thank Italian immigrants for what’s become one of America’s quintessential culinary treasures. Pizza made its way to US shores from Naples in the early 1900s, and its presence on Pearl District menus has seen a decided uptick in recent years. This stylish enterprise run by talented mixologist Ryan Magarian and esteemed Italian chef Cathy Whims is the real deal, serving wonderfully creative blistered-crust pies prepared in a traditional wood-burning oven. Note the selection of delicious optional toppings, such as duck eggs and creamy buffalo mozzarella.

A spacious, contemporary eatery with ample seating on boardwalk-style 10th Avenue, Pizzicato has received cheers from both residents of the many surrounding residential towers and longtime fans of this respected Portland gourmet pizza chain. Note the reasonable prices, bounteous salads, and ample wine, beer, and cocktail selection.

10 Barrel Brewing
It’s hard to imagine a more delightful pairing than handcrafted beer and pizza. On 10 Barrel’s gorgeous roof deck, munch on superb pies (plus burgers and rich mac and cheese) and quench your thirst with some of Oregon’s best IPAs. It’s the perfect recipe for summer.

With an attractive location inside the landmark Ecotrust building, this family-run mini-empire has been turning out stellar pies with intriguing toppings in metro Portland since 1984. Try one of HotLips’ refreshing house-made pear or marionberry sodas, and perhaps a fresh baked snickerdoodle cookie for dessert.
