Anyone with a thirst for beer knows that the Pearl has amazing craft breweries. Produced by the Pearl District Business Association, the second annual Pints in the Pearl celebration will draw thousands of ale aficionados to Northwest 13th Avenue between Davis and Hoyt streets on the first Saturday in June. This free all-ages event features great music and world-class local beers paired with delicious eats. Check the official website for music acts and detailed food and beer menus. June 3, noon–9 p.m.


Come saunter through the verdant Northwest Park Blocks over Labor Day weekend for the 21st installment of this free annual showcase that’s often cited among the nation’s top arts and crafts festivals. More than 100 juried artists from throughout the United States and Canada display their wares, which range from 3-D mixed media to wearable fiber to oil painting. The three-day event includes mostly local food and singer-songwriter music performances as well as art demonstrations and hands-on kid-friendly events. After years as a graphic designer in branding, packaging, and the entertainment industry in Los Angeles, Korean-American artist Joy Cha returned to her true passion—storytelling through art. She moved to Portland in 2014, seeking inspiration among tall Douglas firs, the beautiful Cascades, and the Oregon Coast. SOLO SHOWS – featuring Morehshin Allahyari, Brenna Murphy, and Katie Torn

This summer, Upfor presents a series of overlapping exhibitions by gallery artists Morehshin Allahyari, Brenna Murphy, and Katie Torn (right), who all work extensively in digital media.
