With spring flora abloom, we know just the café to take a seat and soak up the view.
On the ground floor of the sleek Encore condo tower, with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking verdant Fields Park, Ovation Coffee & Tea (941 NW Overton St, 503-719-7716, ovationpdx.com) is owned by affable Moroccan-American brothers Carter and Zak Elhabbassi. It’s a lovely destination, but this airy café has a lot more going for it than its gorgeous setting and welcoming service.
In addition to conventional beverages, you’ll encounter an extensive menu of delicious Moroccan drinks, including Luwessa tea with verbena leaves steeped in steamed milk with a dash of honey, and rich lattes with Moroccan spices. Food-wise, start the day with the lamb gyro biscuit with egg and goat cheese, or try the chicken brie panini at lunch. Cookies, croissants, and house-baked toasted-coconut scones round out the delicious offerings. – Andrew Collins | Photos by Michelle Mitchell
