Chill out, make friends, and enjoy a primo trim and a shave
“I wanted to get back to what the barbershop was originally,” says Shane Fattarino, “a part of the community—and a place for people to feel at home.”
Since Fattarino opened Remedy Barbershop & Social Club (1400 NW Marshall St, Suite 102, 503-946-1929) on Veterans Day in 2018, this inviting space on the ground level of the Enso Apartments building has become more than just a place to get a great haircut. It’s a home away from home for clients, with a cozy den-style waiting room that boasts far more than traditional hair and grooming magazines. While sipping a complimentary beer or whiskey, customers can watch the Blazers game together, listen to music, or play anything from Mario to Pac-Man on a classic Nintendo. More often than not, people come in as strangers and leave as friends.
“I love being able to bring people together, and I Iove making people feel good,” says Fattarino.
Specializing in traditional shaves, beard trims, and men’s and women’s haircuts, Fattarino’s razor-sharp skills—which he’s been honing for more than a decade—keep people coming back again and again. Already, Remedy has become the neighborhood barbershop that Fattarino had always dreamed of.
“I have to pinch myself sometimes,” he says. “It’s amazing what I’ve been able to build, and I’m really excited for what it’s going to continue bringing to the community.” – Lauren Kershner | Photos by Paul Wagtouicz
